We know that if you have great health habits, you will naturally do more and become more capable of making good lifestyle choices. But what about the stress that your body has underwent when you dropped the weight? What about the strain you had to get the gains you have? This is one of the biggest mistakes men make on their fitness journey. In shape for the years that their bodies can handle the strain that they place it under. Wouldn’t it be much better if we approached our fitness from a standpoint of longevity rather than beating our bodies down in order to look and feel good while we’re young?
I for one, have adopted a workout regiment in which I only go to the gym for 15min per day. I realized that working out doesn’t have to be an intense time commitment full of heavy weights, sweat, and grunting. Instead, I simply have the goal of going every day and lifting intently (i.e. slowly) without being sore the next day.
As I’ve had success with this approach (I started in 4 months ago) I have not only worked out more consecutive days than I ever have before, I’m also exploring using the same approach in my diet, mental health, and work. \
The Easy Way to Find Consistency
It seems that the need to be consistent is one of the major reasons why people give up on healthy lifestyle choices over time. I’ve learned to stop trying to be consistent and instead learning to focus on what I’m doing instead of the activity I missed out on. I still meditate before sleep. Easy – Done. As far as physical fitness goes, I don’t lift heavy, I don’t run far, and I don’t push myself until I’m aching or exhausted. I do workout daily and increase my weight and reps on a monthly basis. I’m committed, but I’m not looking to beat my body down.
Remember, it’s not that you don’t like working out, it’s probably that you don’t like being sore, or in pain while pushing yourself.
These are myths, it is possible to get into better habits smoothly and easily.

Stop Comparing
Genetically we’re all made up differently. Some body shapes are naturally better for different sports. Obviously, you’re aware of this and also looking to shape your body a certain way, hence the sports/workouts you’ve chosen to pursue. Keep in mind that your fitness journey is just that, a journey. Different than any other man’s you need to keep that in mind when you see these photoshopped portraits on Instagram. Let’s focus on wellness and what it is to be dedicated through natural choices rather than being forced to eat, workout, and live a certain way.
